RPA Fly Fishing Report Back on the Open Day Work Shop
In the pursuit of trying to find ladies and juniors to participate in organised fly fishing, the RPA angling club and the Limpopo Fly Fishing Union held a free clinic, highlighting different angling techniques, Czech nymphing, casting, leaders knots, fly tying etc
The weather was perfect and the day was very well attended, a good time was had by young and old.
This was the start of what will become a regular event and the start of a training program for juniors. The end result being to put together a junior Limpopo team to fish the national championships later this year, as well as a few ladies moving on to fish the first ever ladies nationals to be held in Ugie later in the year.
Just quick thanks to all the people involved in making this day a great success.
Sue and Trevor Babich for the use of their premises and for supplying the all day tea & coffee and evening braai.
Charl Du Plessis and Smyth printer for organising the whole event as well as the books and notes he put together.
STEALTH Rod and reel for supplying caps for the participants.
Gary Glenn-Young for allowing us to use his prepared notes and all the tutors
Callie Enslin, Tim Babich, Pieter Kriel, Heindrich Geldenhuis, Gael Bataille, Dale Berning, Andre & Annette du Plessis plus Terry Babich and anyone else who’s name evades me at the moment. Thanks very much
Special thanks to Charl who organised the whole event and due to an accident at work the day before was not able to be there. We wish you a speedy recovery and hope that you will soon be wheedling that fly rod of yours at the water soon. Thanks Buddy.
If there is anyone interested in getting a junior involved in fly-fishing contact Terry 0834534127 or Charl 0837189521 and for the ladies Dale 0846256005

The next RPA club outing is the next day (22nd July) at the Dullstroom Municipal Dam, we thought it would save petrol instead of driving out twice to Mpumulanga in one month. The cost of fishing the municipal dam is R70 p/p for a day ticket and I have been informed that they are no longer requesting provincial licences at the venue. It will be a bank angling comp and will be from 9am - 3:30pm
