Elgro River Lodge, a very well known smallmouth yellowfish destination on the Vaal River near Potch is planning a:

"Ladies Yellowfish Festival"  for 28th - 30th October.

This event will be designed around lady entrants and we will be made to feel special. If the nine previous "Yellowfish Festivals" are anything to go by, this event will be well worth attending.  The cost will be in the region of R750.00. That will include, accommodation, fly fishing tuition, fishing, guiding, goodie parcel (not to be sniffed at), all meals & teas. Also for your diary is an event very close to my heart, the "Ugie Ladies". This year I assume the dates will be 23rd September – 25th September.

Last year the ‘Ugie Ladies’ was a resounding success. It was sponsored by the local Spar and Hairy Fairy flies.  Tom Sutcliffe's charisma charmed the ladies and he passed on his years of fly fishing knowledge.  In addition to Tom there was a huge contingent of guides seeing to all our fishing requirements.  There were many first time anglers and every single one caught fish and enjoyed it, even though the weather was dreadful!  I took my hat off to all those ladies who still ventured out, regardless of the freezing wind and rain that followed on the Saturday.
