The Largest Anging/Fishing site in Africa

Dear All,
Only a very short update this week I am afraid as the boats have only done five days fishing. Most boats along the coast are quiet for most of the month which is unfortunately the norm for September.
The weather has been quite windy most days and it is still blowing from the south. We haven’t had any rain to talk about and it is getting slightly hotter during the day. The fishing is not easy at the moment and boats that have been out between Malindi and Watamu have struggled. We hope that things will improve soon once the wind calms down.

On the 6th both Tina and Eclare were out. They fished the Mambrui area and once again a marlin was seen making it four days out of four that a marlin has been seen in this area. Eclare tagged and released a black marlin of 60 kgs and also got 7 yellowfin tuna and 2 kingfish. Tina had a wahoo, 2 yellowfin and 5 dorado.
On the 7th Neptune ventured out to the North Kenya Banks again and although the sea was very rough and the fish weren’t showing too well they still managed to have a good day out there. They got a total of 250 kgs of yellowfin with the biggest weighing 37.5 kgs and six others weighing in over 20 kgs.
Tina and Snowgoose were out on the 12th and both found the going tough. Tina on a short day managed to get three yellowfin tuna and two kingfish with one yellowfin weighing just over 20kgs. Snowgoose came very close to skunking but saved the day with a 13 kg kingfish!
The KASA prize giving dinner on Friday was a great success. Trophies and certificates were awarded to all the winners and there was a very wide spectrum of prizes from the most marlin caught by a boat to the biggest fish of each species. Kingfisher boats and anglers did very well by winning seven different prizes. It is great to see that such spectacular fish catches are being recognized again at well attended functions. Long may it last and very well done to all at KASA for organizing it all.
That’s it for this week. Have a good week.

Take care
