Campfire Bread
(suggest you practice at home first)
I have been asked to put up more bread receipes click next button at bottom of the page (so here for you Chris)
What you will need is one three legged cast iron black pot (Potjie Pot)
and a safe fire.
Plain Bread
(you can put lots of butter and jam on it)
1 x 500 gram self raising flour
1 x tub of yogurt
pinch of salt
Mix with either water/milk
Your hands do the rest (so nice and clean please)
Mix in the bowl all the dry stuff make a hole in the
middle and drop in the Yogurt, then slowly put the water in until you
have a nice firm dough mix (don't hit it). Leave the mixture to rise in
the sun with a clean cloth over it. Fire must be ready, grease the Potjie
and put the mixture into it and put the lid on top. Please remember that
if the fire is too hot the bottom of the bread will burn and the top will
be horrible, so you judge it, the bread is ready when you can knock the
bread on the top and it sounds hollow.
Again this bread has endless possibilities add a table
spoon of honey with some finely chopped dried fruit.
Savory Bread
1 x 500 gram packet of self raising flour
1 x packet of white onion soup
1 x tub of plain yogurt
Plastic mixing bowl
Fresh water/milk or even beer to mix

The big secret is you can replace the packet of soup
with either tin of sweet corn, tomatoes & onions, tinned tuna, really
what ever takes your fancy you will find it will take either more water
or less or you can use beer instead of the water/ milk also very nice.
The bread can be made with milk instead of water, dry
packet of yeast instead of yogurt baked in the oven at home. Thats why
I said try it out at home first.
