CORAL SNAKE - Koraalslang

(Aspidelaps lubricus)

Length: 0.40 -0.8m - Nocturnal

The Coral snake spends much of its life underground, emerging at night to forage for food. Very active after rains. A bad-tempered snake that will strike repeatedly while hissing and lunging forward.

(Aspidelaps scutatus)

Length: 0.40 -0.75m - Nocturnal

 

Shield-nose Snakes hide during the day and forage for food at night. Their snout is covered with a large dorsal scale which is used as a bulldozer to push through sandy soil. Like the Rinkhals and Snouted Cobra may play dead if threatened.
