HORNED ADDER - Horingadder/Horingsman

Length: 0.25 - 0.50m - Nocturnal (esp. Dusk)

Horned Adders have extremely variable colouration depending on the geographical area. Inhabit dry sandy regions where they sidewind on soft sand, burying themselves in loose sand using a wriggling or shuffling motion. Most characteristic feature is presence of an erect scale above each eye. There is a U-shaped or hourglass marking on top of the head.

Many-horned Adder's most distinctive feature is a tuft of 2 or 4 "horns" on either side of head above each eye.

COMMON NIGHT ADDER - Gewone nagadder

Length: 0.4 - 1.0m - Nocturnal

Common Night Adders are found in varying shades of light grey, olive or light to pinkish brown with a series of large rhombic markings sometimes encircled with white on the back & tail.
